This was a great read. So many books focus on the strategies for estate planning that pass the most amount of wealth possible to the beneficiaries. They rarely focus on preparing the beneficiaries to receive the wealth. The authors of this book recognize that without preparation, inherited wealth can do much more harm than good. It certainly changed my perspective on inherited wealth. I found this book to be surprisingly engaging for such an inherently boring topic.

A Learning Experience

This book is amazing. It is written so anyone can understand it. "Entrusted" is a must read for individuals, families who want to pass their legacies on to their family in the right way. It is an essential tool for estate planning. I have learned so much and I will go back and read it again. The authors have given a gift to all of us. I am using these books for presents for my family, attorneys and advisers.

About the Author
Steve Cha has worked in over a hundred film, television, and commercial productions in Hollywood. He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Arts. Steve is director of Uncensored, a Los Angeles based Bible fellowship, and is a speaker in promoting the Great Commission.

Genuine author, yet not the best approach

Having worked with Steve on set, I admit he's such a nice guy and it's been a real encouragement to have another Christian brother on set. And yet I sadly can't really recommend this book. I grew up just as evangelical as him, have worked a bit on the mission field, and have been working on set for 8+ years thus far in Hollywood. His perspective is quite insulated and he's religiously quite hard on himself when he feels he let God down. Just as we need to speak (preach), we also need to have ears to listen and eyes to observe. More people in Hollywood than he realizes have heard the gospel and they simply internalize it and manifest it in their daily lives in ways different than Steve is used to. We each need to be weary of being overcome by a super-hero God-complex, which can manifest by (1) looking down on those unlike us who (2) we hope to save through our own righteousness (but we term "through Christ," using Christianese) when (3) we've lost sight of our own fallibility and sin in the midst of it, with (4) a religious spirit in, on, or over us feeding on each isolated emotional religious response one can get from those on set who seem receptive to talk religion. I respect Steve's ability to get the gospel into the hands of many more than I do, and yet I believe I've found a way to connect more personally with some in Hollywood, who don't seem to have their guard up as much to true relationship and honesty about my own struggles and questions. Respect and openness can then be built, laying a foundation to communicate the gospel in other ways. While Steve's stories are definitely quite fun to read, there's enough warning signs in this book that a particular Bible-based Hollywood ministry has recommended it not be read. Steve is a leader though in terms of boldness and getting the gospel into the hands of others.

Reaching a decadent industry for Christ

If, as a Christian, you have ever wondered what it would take to reach the movie industry with the gospel this book is a must read. I am grateful to have met Steve at church and see his heart for the lost and to have learned through reading this book what it cost Him to proclaim the saving message of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in a very dark industry. As Christians we are to preach the gospel to all, regardless of the consequences. Steve's book is a testimony to that reality. Hollywood Mission: Possible also serves as a reminder of the urgency of seizing any and every opportunity we have to proclaim the saving message of the gospel.

challenging

i've been a christian for a while but always had negative opinions of evangelizing to strangers or new acquaintances. i believed such methods were ineffective. After reading this book, it really posed a question for me. i can tell that cha is trying to convey the urgency of our mission to deliver the good news. perhaps i have been hiding behind my reasonings to avoid the challenges of active of evangelizing...

Its target was the appeasers of the 1930s, the leading culprits being Baldwin, Chamberlain and Halifax who had left the country so ill-prepared, and who, by their pusillanimity, had emboldened Hitler and Mussolini; and in the case of the last two still favoured some accommodation with the fascist dictators. In today's parlance, it would be called a wake-up call. It was very successful selling about 200,000 copies.

Kenneth Morgan, Michael Foot's biographer, describes the book as consisting of 'a series of brief vignettes of key episodes or personalities, the latter invariably foolish or dishonest.' Michael Foot wrote eight of the chapters, the first and most powerful one being on Dunkirk.

Although Michael Foot was the main contributor, and the one who suggested 'Cato' as the umbrella pseudonym, the other two, as Michael Foot would be the first to admit, Peter Howard and Frank Own should not be forgotten.

Seventy years on, Guilty Men has not lost its readability and power to enrage.

When the pen can be sharper than the sword.

Written in the white heat of anger by three left of centre political journalists and rushed into publication just as Churchill became Prime Minister of a shattered nation staring down the barrel of almost certain defeat by Nazi Germany, "Guilty Men" remains one of the freshest and powerful denunciations of political arrogance and negligence ever written. The swords of WWII are rusty and forgotten, but this work of the pen endures. It is polemic of the highest kind - focused, informed and brutal in its judgement, marshalling fact and rhetoric to devastating effect. For any student of politics or history, this little book is a must read not just as a devastating critique of appeasement, but more importantly as a reminder of what responsibilities the elected leaders of any democracy bear and how easily they can delude themselves and their followers in the pursuit of the soft options. Vigilance must be eternal.

Some people love to travel to foreign countries, Texas John loves to live in foreign countries.

Too many travelers count how many countries they go to and wear the number like a badge of honor. Tex doesn't place a lot of value in that. How much did you really learn in your 4 days in Paraguay about the people and the culture?

Tex prefers to stay and work for months or years wherever he goes. He has spent 5 years in China, a year in Japan, a year in South America, and half a year in the Philippines. He believes if you haven't worked in the country then it is impossible to understand it.

Texas John is currently in an undisclosed location in Asia.

Learned more about the Chinese from this book than from anything else I've read.

I down loaded this because it was free and I'm cheap and I always check out books about Americans teaching English abroad because some of them are quite interesting. Then I got to looking at the stupid cover picture and the dumb title and the moronic nom-de-keyboard and I thought life's too short to waste on another pile of drivel by some idiot who went someplace, got a job teaching English, stayed drunk the whole time, and embarrassed himself and his country. I really wish I could remember why I started reading it.

It doesn't matter because once I started I was hooked like a large-mouth bass. This guy is funny and he can write. Furthermore, he stayed in China an amazing FIVE YEARS. A year is a LONG time for most Americans to stay in China and many fold after a few months, which is why there are always lots of teaching jobs. And I owe him an apology because he DIDN'T stay drunk the whole time, but seems to have genuinely made a effort to do the job he was being paid for. Actually, the man is mature, intelligent, and thoughtful, but don't tell him I said so. Clearly he prefers to pass himself off as an irresponsible goofball and that's fine.

While he breaks the chapters down by year, this is basically a collection of stories. Most are funny because he's the kind of guy who finds the humor in situations even while he's cussing and pulling out his hair (or someone else's hair.) So as entertainment, the book is well worth your time. What sets it apart is that each story is followed by a "Cultural Take" comment where he explains what this incident taught him about the Chinese and the way they think.

Most Americans in Asia simply accept that the locals behave oddly (to us) and order another round of drinks. Why did this author CARE why his Chinese colleagues, friends, and enemies act the way they do? It's because he's a saleman. He worked part time in sales while in school and then went into professional sales and then became a headhunter, which is also sales because you're selling the company to the candidate and then selling the candidate to the company. And he loved sales and realized that it fits his personality. He took a job teaching English only because that was the easiest way to stay in China for an extended period.

So he was technically an educator, but that saleman's personality never went into hibernation and a salesman (a real one, not just an order taker) HAS to know what the other guy is thinking. Unless you get inside the other person's head, you can't sell him anything. So every time he interacted with the Chinese, his mind was asking, "Why are they acting like this? What are they thinking?" And with observation and some help from Chinese friends and co-workers, he started to understand Chinese culture and how it molds individual and group behaviors. That's not to say he fell in love with the Chinese way of thinking and acting. He didn't always love it, but he did start to understand it. And now he passes five years' worth of understanding along to the reader in a hilarious, fascinating book that entertains as it educates.

If you're going to China or have contact with Chinese in any way, this book is invaluable. I've even read books by Chinese authors claiming to explain Chinese culture to Westerners and I ALWAYS finish more confused than I started. I finally realized that the Chinese don't WANT us to understand them. You have to learn about them from an insider who knows the ropes and who's better with ropes than a Texan? I would LOVE to see this book marketed to professionals doing business in China. It would help them far more than the crap they're reading now. I hope Tex is at work on a book about his experiences in Latin America. I'll even be willing to pay!

Read from start to finish in one day (not impossible due to length) and laughed the entire way through the book. Knowing the author personally made it even more enjoyable and easier to relate to his experience in China. It's definitely worth buying and reading!

The U.S.S. Scorpion SSN 589, a 99-man fast attack submarine, sank 400 miles southwest of the Azores on May 22, 1968, a time during the Cold War when the Soviet Navy was expanding and becoming more aggressive. The Navy's top secret court of inquiry, however, theorized that the Scorpion was sunk by its own hot-running torpedo, not an enemy vessel. In this thorough post-mortem, military beat reporter Offley challenges the Navy's official report-including details like when the wreckage was found and what the sub's mission had been-with a succinct charge: "It was all a lie." Offley believes the Scorpion was sunk by the Soviets, in retaliation for the loss of one of their subs two months prior. Using the U.S.S. Pueblo incident of January, 1968, in which key cryptography gear was lost, Offley connects the dots between the Navy, the John Walker spy ring, and Soviet intelligence to conclude that the Russians had access to all of the Navy's most secret communications, allowing them to ambush the Scorpion. Most of Offley's argument, while compelling, is based solely on interviews with former Navy personnel, and a lack of factual evidence weakens it. Still, this well-told narrative history holds much appeal for naval historians and conspiracy buffs.

On May 22, 1968, the submarine Scorpion exploded and sank 400 miles southeast of the Azores, killing all 99 men aboard. It had been torpedoed by a Soviet submarine in retaliation for its suspected involvement in the disappearance 11 weeks earlier of the Soviet submarine K-129. Oilley believes that admirals in the U.S and Soviet navies--fearing what could become World War III--agreed to hide the truth of the two sinkings. Only 91 seconds after the torpedo struck, the Scorpion plunged 1,300 feet below the surface. By May 31, a search force had increased to 55 surface ships and submarines and three dozen land-based patrol aircraft. On June 5, the U.S. declared that it was lost at sea, and on October 30, the navy announced the discovery of the vessel. Based on 25 years of research, which included investigating declassified navy documents, Offley reveals details of the events that led to the vessel's sinking and the cover-up that followed. He has written a searing account of this tragedy at sea. George Cohen

A most interesting tale, this book answers many of the lingering questions concerning the loss of the Scorpion back in 1968. Mr. Offley presents a strong case for the one conclusion that might have started a war back then, I,e, that the sub was attacked and sunk . Dr Ballard's pictures make it clear that there is evidence of a torpedo strike on the sub, and this puts the lie to the official version of what happened. It would also explain certain reports that came out in the so called Russian Spring.This book deserves to be read by everyone.

Matthew Helmke is an active member of the Ubuntu community. He served from 2006 to 2011 on the Ubuntu Forum Council, providing leadership and oversight of the Ubuntu Forums (www.ubuntuforums.org), and spent two years on the Ubuntu regional membership approval board for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He has written about Ubuntu for several magazines and websites, is a lead author of The Official Ubuntu Book, and coauthored The VMware Cookbook. He works as a technical writer for Canonical, Inc., documenting cloud- and DevOps-related software. Matthew first used Unix in 1987 while studying LISP on a VAX at the university. Cathy has been a foster carer for over 25 years, during which time she has looked after more than 100 children, of all ages and backgrounds. She has three teenage children of her own; one of whom was adopted after a long-term foster placement. The name Cathy Glass is a pseudonym.

Shame on Rosemary and Edward for what they did to Alex. How do you treat a child like that? I Do not care who the child belongs to you do not treat them that way. They damaged that poor boy. Thank goodness for Cathy ,Gwen and her husband as they did save him. You did a great job Cathy as did Alex adoptive family who now Love him forever. I relize he is an adult now and hope he himself gets to read these reviews. Keep being happy Alex.

Cathy I think your a great foster parent. Councelor, many things to children.I think it was You who helped Alex first, foster parents were very good but he came no to u and think he will never forget you.I fostered one child 6 yrs and she was adopted.I got too attached so never took more, I have 2 of mine girls , 1 stepson.GOD bless you wish there were more like u.Looking forward to next book.

Rings true to foster care insiders

A gripping book, and yet to those familiar with the foster care system this book's story will be very familiar, as it was clearly written by someone with excellent knowledge of the foster care system, not as it's promoted to be by social workers, but how it falls far short of helping children who need it the most. Another example of institutional failure are group homes and boarding schools. Linton Hall Military School Memories: One Cadet's Memoir details one such example, where children are taught to mindlessly follow arbitrary rules but are not being nurtured and prepared for life.
