Augusta Jane Wilson, or Augusta Evans Wilson, (May 8, 1835 – May 9, 1909) was an American Southern author and one of the pillars of Southern literature. She was born Augusta Jane Evans on May 8, 1835, in Columbus, Georgia.[1] The area of her birth was then known as Wynnton (now MidTown). As a young girl in 19th-century America she received little in the way of a formal education. However, she became a voracious reader at an early age. Her father, Matthew Evans, suffered bankruptcy and lost the family's Sherwood Hall property in the 1840s. He moved his family of 10 from Georgia to San Antonio, Texas, in 1845. Evans's time there would inspire her first published literary work. In 1850, at the age of 15 she wrote "Inez: A Tale of the Alamo", a sentimental, moralistic, anti-Catholic love story. It told the story of one orphan's spiritual journey from religious skepticism to devout faith. She presented the manuscript to her father as a Christmas gift in 1854. It was published anonymously in 1855.

Intriguing 19th century tale.

Very interesting story, possibly autobiographical, by a very early female novelist. Jane Evans, through the language of the day weaves a good story of loyalty, love, life and death with spiritual warfare between the Catholic Church and the Protestant Reformation. A good first effort by this little known pre-civil-war author. I found myself reading this book carefully so as not to miss the author's meaning in her usage of period phraseology.

Nice setting, bad writing

This story is a tragic romance set during the Alamo. Evans wrote the book in 1850 when she was 15 years old, and it shows. The diction is quite flowery, especially when the characters would use more simple language, which distracts much from an enjoyable reading of the text. The subject material is great, extolling the virtues of the Protestant faiths and showing the early Texas frontier every day conflicts. But the Alamo is only briefly touched, and note that the story is very depressing. Although the book is not too long, it seems to drag on, and would be helped by a healthy revision.

Quick and easy to use

It gets thicker every time I purchase a new edition. But it's still the best IMO for quick DDI reference. I love how the info are organized. Very quick and dirty reference with ample literature to back up their recommendations. There are other DDI texts out there and I've tried them. But Tatro's version is by far the best I've used and own. Highly recommended!

Pawol Lakay is a great learning resource

This book is an excellent way to learn the Haitian language for native English speakers and can be used independently, as I am doing, or in a classroom setting, which is the audience it was written for. It comes with both the text and audio CDs and I have been working through them with relative ease. My only criticism is that the audio and text sometimes do not match and which might be confusing for some. However, those inconsistencies are not very numerous nor terribly problematic and overall the lessons are great for learning the Haitian language. If you are interesting in learning to speak Haitian, I recommend this book.

Needed it for a class got here really quickly and very easy to use. The CD's are a help and at the back of the book I found the answers to the questions for the audio exercises at the end of the semester! :( Only downside sometimes the cd dialogue is too quick for even me a native speaker doing the course for college credit. Learnt a lot of new things.

The book Achievement Motivation in Leadership Roles of Extension Agents by Roya Karami and Maimunah Ismail is an interesting work where the authors have effectively put together theoretical and practical aspects of extension agents leadership roles. Using Bandura s social cognitive theory (2001) and Farmer s achievement model (1997), the book explores the reciprocal relationships of individual factors with environmental factors in influencing extension agents behaviours in leadership roles. Extension agents, as leaders, are important advocates in the dissemination of new technology information and practices to their clients. Both play symbiotic reciprocal relationships, where political, economic, social and cultural factors intermingle in determining extension agents performance. This study on Iranian extension agents provided a case to determine whether or not the theoretical perspectives of achievement motivation in leadership role used in this book are applicable. The findings of the study generally support the applicability of the theoretical discussion made in [the] first part of the book. The book highlights the importance of empowering clients in decision making so as to lessen over-dependence of clients [on] extension agents, as well as to make clients more independent and responsible for their actions. About the Author
Roya Karami is a post-doctoral fellow in major of Extension Education at Universiti Putra Malaysia. She is also staff of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization from Iran's Ministry of Jihad-e-Agriculture. Her research areas include extension systems, career development, and achievement motivation. She published articles in the areas of extension system and achievement motivation among extension agents in local and international journals. Maimunah Ismail, PhD is Professor of Extension Education at Universiti Putra Malaysia. Her research areas include career development, corporate social responsibility, and gender studies. She has authored/co-edited 11 academic books and numerous articles in local and international journals. She sits on the Editorial Advisory Board of several international journals.

Author Dana Sherstad and collaborator B.J. Barbich live with their families in beautiful Washington State. Both graduated with AA degrees from Grace Bible College, Grand Rapids, MI, and have a passion for the Word of God. Stirred by E. W. Bullinger’s book, Witness of the Stars, they greatly expanded the concepts from Bullinger’s work, teaching the material to small study groups. They were led by the Lord to develop this study further and make it available to a wider audience. Together they set out on the journey which has culminated in this Bible study.
